Comedian and BBC star Zoe Lyons has been left shocked as her quiz show, Lightning, has been axed with immediate effect. The BBC Two quiz programme has been cut from air after just two series, as reported by the Daily Star.
A BBC spokesperson has confirmed that Lightning will be yanked off the channel, after just two seasons on our screens. The fast-paced show gave players the chance to battle it out to win a £3,000 jackpot, with contestants tasked with passing a light from themselves to a rival of their choosing by answering questions correctly.

Whoever was caught in the lightning bolt when time ran out, was eliminated on the show. But the twist was, only the viewers at home count see the countdown, meaning players were not aware of their fate until the last second.
But Lightning was not meant to be for BBC Two, as Zoe posted a photo of her iconic sparkly blazer hanging up on social media, writing: "Sadly all good quizzes must come to an end but I can’t tell you what a joy it was to work on @lightningquiz for @bbc2.
“We made 2 cracking series and I loved every second of working with my pals at BBC Belfast. Every contestant was a [star emoji] and you can still catch up on @BBCiPlayer.”

The BBC has said: "Lightning has had two great series but we need to make room for new opportunities. We'd like to thank Zoe and the team for all their hard work."
Fans rushed to Zoe's aid on social media to send their condolences, with one Twitter user writing: "Oh no, I’m absolutely gutted! Such a shame we won’t be seeing another series. I hope you get another show soon Zoe as you were brilliant on Lightning, there’ll never be another quiz like this. I will miss it!”
Another said: "I thought the show properly found its feet in S2. What a shame to axe it now!” And a third wrote: "Really sorry to hear this - it was a great show, you were a brilliant host, and it was immensely enjoyable to take part in as a contestant.”
A fourth added: "Ah man, sorry to hear this Zoe. I thought this news might be coming at the Beeb. Hope there might be a future for it there yet at some point - it was great!”
