BBC host Scott Mills issued a passionate put down to Eurovision doubters and told them to 'change the narrative,' after Sam Ryder finished second in Saturday's final.
James Newman had a Eurovision Song Contest result he wanted to quickly forget in 2021, after the Embers singer got zero points from both the juries and voting public. However, going into this year's competition there was real hope for UK's Sam Ryder and his song Space Man, given his massive TikTok following and the amount of promotion he'd bee doing across Europe before Saturday's final.
The 32-year-old's efforts definitely paid off as, after giving an amazing performance of his track Space Man, Sam's Eurovision result saw him finish top of the leaderboard after he jury scores and ending up finishing second to Ukraine after the game changing televotes were added in.

Having been with Sam when he was announced as the UK's Eurovision entry for this year and throughout the week as he geared up to the final, Scott joined BBC co-host Rylan Clark to commentate on the semi finals as they took place on Tuesday and Thursday. And Radio 1 star Scott had some strong words for Eurovision critics who wrote Sam's chances off of doing well many months ago.
Taking to Twitter after watching the final live in Italy, Scott posted: "To people who said we can’t win/will always come last, I hope we have changed that narrative. I’m so bored of the chat of people will never vote for us because of politics/brexit etc. Send a good song and act, Quite a lot of votes really.. be proud that we came second tonight
