BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Stuart has passed away at the age of 73.
Chris' death was confirmed as tributes to the broadcasting star, who had been hailed as "one of the greats", poured in from his former colleagues.
The BBC star was one of the first hosts on BBC Radio Wales and, as well as being a daily presenter on BBC Radio 2, he also set up the production company behind quiz show Only Connect and Late Night Poker on Channel 4.
He also hosted the science quiz Inspiration on Radio 4.
Victoria Coren Michell, who presents Only Connect, told the BBC: "Everyone is devastated by the loss of Chris Stuart, our brilliant colleague."
"Joyful and lovely and wise and insightful, and a talented broadcaster himself, which listeners to Radio Wales will remember. Most of all he was our beloved, treasured, friend, and we're heartbroken," she added.
Tributes to the late star, who's cause of death is yet to be confirmed, continued as BBC Cymru Wales director Rhuanedd Richards said: "Chris used his intelligence, curiosity and engaging personality to brilliant effect.
"He was instrumental in ensuring the success of Radio Wales in its early days and became one of its defining and most recognised voices."
"He could engage with any topic and find the right words for the big occasions," she added.
Chris was born in Durham but moved around several times as a child. He was raised in Birstall, Leicestershire from the age of seven.
He studied at New College in Oxford and later moved to Wales to undertake a journalism training programme at Cardiff.
In 1978 he joined BBC Radio Wales, which had been newly created, where he hosted breakfast news and entertainment programmes for nine years.
He later moved to London and went on to present on BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4.
Chris was the Westminster Abbey commentator across the BBC radio network for the funeral services for Princess Diana and the Queen Mother.
The radio star later set up his own production company with his wife Megan in 1993, which broadcasted a number of major events from Cardiff's Principality stadium and even the Sydney Opera House.
Tributes to Chris have also flooded Twitter as one wrote: "You'll be missed, Chris" followed by a red heart emoji.
Another added: "Such sad news. Chris was a great broadcaster and a genuinely nice guy. He will be sadly missed. Thoughts with the family."
While BBC's Kate Phillips said: "We are devastated to hear of the passing of Chris Stuart, the creator and executive producer of one of the BBC's most popular quiz shows Only Connect, and previously a presenter on both BBC Radio Wales and the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show.
"He was an extremely talented and clever man, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
"So many people have benefited and learnt their craft from him, he leaves an incredible legacy behind."
