- Clive Myrie, the BBC News presenter and Mastermind host, has revealed he does not own a television set in his north London home.
- He and his wife, Catherine, prefer to watch programmes on a laptop from bed, as he believes TVs "suck the energy out of a room".
- Despite his career in news, Myrie said he does not watch the news himself, opting instead for news documentaries and radio current affairs shows.
- Myrie has had a 37-year career at the BBC, known for presenting BBC News at Six and BBC News at Ten, as well as the quiz show Mastermind .
- He is not alone among BBC personalities in this preference, with Claudia Winkleman and Paloma Faith also having previously said they do not own televisions.
