A new drama called Sherwood is set to hit TV screens soon after being filmed in various locations across Nottinghamshire. The show is based around murders which took place near the village of Annesley Woodhouse back in 2004.
Sherwood is, though, a fictional drama, inspired by the two tragic events which shocked the small community where writer James Graham was staying all those years ago, having returned from studying in Yorkshire. In July of 2004, Robert Boyer had shot ex-miner Keith 'Froggy' Frogson with a crossbow on his doorstep, before hacking him to death with a sword and setting fire to his home - with his victim's daughter and her husband still inside.
Later that month, Terry Rodgers was living in his daughter Chanel's home in Huthwaite when he shot her four times, just weeks after her wedding. Both Boyer and Rodgers went into hiding in the same woodland, leading to a huge police search and presence in the former mining village as they searched for them.
