BBC move Strictly Come Dancing for World Cup after schedule 'clash' for quarter final

Strictly Come Dancing will be 'shunted' out of its usual Saturday night slot in a few weeks time as the BBC prioritise coverage of the World Cup.

There are now just days to go until the start of the tournament in Qatar, with the hots being the first time in action against Ecuador on Sunday, before England open their account against Iran on Monday. The group stages of this year's World Cup are set to go on until December 2, with the final first round game seeing Brazil take on Cameroon, before the knock outs get going just a day later, with an afternoon and evening fixture.

And it's with those matches in mind that the BBC have taken the decision to move the Strictly quarter final, which will have a Musicals theme, from Saturday, December 3 to Friday, December 2 at 8pm . This looks set to have a knock on effect on that weekend's results show as well. Although the results are always filmed just hours after the live show ends, they are typically shown on a Sunday but, with more World Cup games happening on Sunday, December 4, the BBC could change this too.
