BBC issues Gary Lineker update as it apologises to sport fans

Gary Lineker Football Focus

The BBC has issued an update after its sporting schedule was thrown into disarray this weekend. Presenters, commentators, and pundits, pulled out of various shows in solidarity with Gary Lineker 'stepping away' from Match of the Day in a row over impartiality.

Match of the Day is set to be shown tonight without pundits and analysis between games and the usual commentators. Football Focus, Final Score, and BBC 5 Live programmes were also replaced with pre-recorded shows as the presenters and contributors to these shows said they would not be involved.

The BBC has now released a statement apologising for the axing of its sports programming this weekend. It also said it was it is “working hard to resolve the situation and hope to do so soon”.
