The BBC has admitted there are "technical issues" with their iPlayer on-demand service after users complained on social media that they couldn't access certain shows..
Locations across the UK, including London and Manchester, were particularly affected as some users worried a 'cyber attack' was causing the service to be down for some.
According to Downdetector, the streaming provider was down for a while and many took to Twitter to share their angst at not being able to watch their favourite shows.
A message on iPlayer had indicated that there was some changes being made, with it reading: " BBC iPlayer may look a bit different today. But don’t worry, you can still watch as normal.”
One annoyed user hit out at Auntie Beeb on Twitter, writing: " @BBCiPlayer what’s going on with the iPlayer yet again? You expect me to pay my license and nothing will load! As it’s the only way we can watch live bbc, do I get a refund/rebate? How long is it down???"
Another added: "It seems that BBC iPlayer is down. Just watched a show, buy can't get anything else to play. #BBCiPlayerDown #iPlayerDown "
While a third joked: "wait, is the iPlayer down? is that just me? is this a cyber attack? have the Russians come for House of Games."
In response to the issues, a BBC spokesperson told The Mirror: "All content is still available on BBC iPlayer, but we’re aware of a technical issue with some of the usual functions and we’re working hard to fix this."
As well as this clarification, a statement on the website reads: "We're aware that some people are unable to locate and play certain episodes of programmes on BBC iPlayer at the moment.
"Some are unable to see their Continue Watching list and unable to access other Personalisation features.
"This is currently being investigated and we'll update this page with further information."
