BBC Garden Rescue hit with complaints by viewers over 'awful' makeover

Garden Rescue viewers have hit out at a transformation - saying it is "embarrassing". The BBC show saw Charlie Dimmock tasked with transforming a garden at a property in Mickleover in Derbyshire, Birmingham Live reports.

But fans criticised it- saying it was "cheap and awful". Elaine and Paul in Mickleover told Charlie they love all things 50s - 50s cars, 50s clothes, 50s music and 50s dancing. But Elaine also loved fairies, she admitted.

For £3,000, Charlie and Chris created a garden inspired by the rock and roll era that also made the couple’s fairytale dreams come true. But a baffled Twitter user wrote: "£3,000 for that! 2 huge exhausts sticking out a water feature and the new turf looked awful, gaps where it all joined Poor workmanship!"

"Did anyone watch #gardenRescue? Why are there 2 fridges in the garden?" agreed a second. "Not worth the money," a third sniped on social media. After drawing up plans, Elaine and Paul ended up opting for Chris' intricate design.

With both Chris and Charlie pitching in to create a magical garden for the couple, they was also joined by the Garden Rescue team of professionals. Getting to work, the group of experts created a stunning space complete with a water feature made from exhaust pipes.

With fairy-inspired accents surrounding the garden, there was also an ornate pergola. As well as an abundance of plants and a freshly trimmed lawn, a tiled area was also laid. Perfect for the 1950s-loving couple to dance upon, Elaine and Paul even showed off their moves after marvelling at their new outdoor space. When the couple spun around beneath their pergola, Charlie was quick to gush over their moves.

Speaking to the camera, she said: "Well, they can certainly shake their booty," as she burst into giggles. BBC Garden Rescue continues on BBC One and iPlayer.
