TV viewers in Nottinghamshire missed out on their usual BBC local news bulletin tonight (Wednesday, March 23). The late East Midlands Today bulletin from Nottingham was abruptly pulled by the corporation half an hour before it was due to be broadcast.
An announcement was made on BBC East Midlands' Twitter channel at 10pm. "Unfortunately, we are unable to broadcast our late bulletin from Nottingham tonight, so we will be sharing output from Birmingham across the Midlands," a tweet said.
Elise Chamberlain presented the East Midlands Today programme earlier in the evening, but no explanation for the change was given during the Midlands Today bulletin that was televised at 10.30pm. Presenter Mary Rhodes simply said: "Welcome to viewers in the West and East Midlands."

Viewers were quick to comment on Twitter on the last-minute alteration. Gort @Iamgortyboy said: "Tell me this is misfortune or bad management and not a deliberate erosion of local public broadcasting. This is happening far too often to be coincidence."
Edwin @ET4AV said the BBC "might as well share news from Mars for all the good that's worth," while Graham Tyler @GTyler1 said: "A one-off I hope."
