Viewers have been loving the new BBC One police drama Blue Lights, which is set in Northern Ireland. It has now been announced that Blue Lights will be renewed for a second series.
The BBC has announced that filming will begin this summer in Belfast and there will be six one-hour episodes of the drama. Many cast members, including Siân Brooke, Martin McCann, Katherine Devlin, Nathan Braniff, Joanne Crawford, Andi Osho, and Hannah McClean, will be reprising their roles.
Stephen Wright, Executive Producer of Blue Lights and Creative Director and Joint CEO of Two Cities TV, says: “We are thrilled by the audience response to the show. Belfast is a vibrant, dynamic and complex place and we have a wealth of stories yet to come from our characters. We can’t wait to bring these to the fans.”

The first series follows the lead character Grace Ellis (Sian Brooke) who quits her job as a social worker to take on a new career as a police officer in the Police Service of Northern Ireland. She is joined on the force by fellow newcomers Annie Conlon (Katherine Devlin) and Tommy Foster (Nathan Braniff).
All three face a stern challenge in proving themselves and simply staying in policing, on top of all the difficulties and complications that come with being a police officer in Northern Ireland. Viewers including famous TV presenters like Gabby Logan have been loving the show.
Gabby said: "If you need a binge-watch this weekend I’ll be recommending Blue Lights on BBC iPlayer the only good thing about finishing it last night was the feeling there could be a second series." You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
