BBC Breakfast's Victoria Fritz has had to explain why her name has changed after leaving viewers confused.
The presenter, who had replaced Sally Nugent for the third day running and joined regular host Jon Kay who was back in the studio following reporting outside 10 Downing Street, introduced herself as Victoria Valentine as opposed to Fritz.
Fans wondered why the 38-year-old was going by a different name as she presented from the iconic red sofa.
Several people took to social media to ask the journalist why she had opted to go by a different name.
One person said: "Anyone surprised by Victoria Fritz name change? What's that about? #BBCBreakfast" as someone replied: "I noticed that, how strange?"
While another asked Victoria: "morning Victoria, how come the name has changed? Was confused when you just introduced yourself on the red couch."
As a fourth replied: "Is it Victoria Fritz or Valentine ?? Presenting this morning #BBCBreakfast."
One thought they had worked out the reason, saying: "Hi Victoria, I noticed on BBC Breakfast, that called yourself Victoria Valentine, and your twitter says the same. Have you sadly got divorced and decided to use your maiden name? Sending you much love xxx."
Victoria wrote her own tweet where she explained the reason for her name change to her 52.7k followers.
She said: "Hello. You may notice a little change today. If you are wondering why, here are a few words:," before linking to a blog post.
In the post, Victoria explained that she has gone back to her mother's maiden name after the breakdown of her marriage to Dan Fritz.
The pair tied the knot back in 2011.
She wrote: "The reasons for the breakdown of my marriage are private. I have two wonderful young children to consider. Protecting their wellbeing and right to a private life will always be my priorities.
"Yet, however private I wish to keep my private life, there is an aspect of it that will always remain as much in public hands as it is in my own. And that is my name."
The news comes after fans have called for Victoria to replace Sally Nugent permanently on the show.
One viewer said: "Victoria is my new favourite on #BBCBreakfast."
As another commented: "Vivacious Victoria doing a marvelous presenting job today I'm sure we all agree."
"#BBCBreakfast loving the new presenter, a nice fresh look and a lovely voice," added a third.
Another wrote: "#BBCBreakfast Victoria Fritz is a natural of a presenter pure class lovely personality attractive should be on the sofa more often," as someone asked: "Who's this presenting #BBCBreakfast can we have her instead of Sally."
Victoria called herself the 'luckiest woman alive' in August when she stepped into Sally's shoes once again.
