BBC Breakfast host Charlie Stayt took a swipe at fellow presenter Carol Kirkwood this morning, as he joked she has never paid attention to his morning programme.
Co-host Naga Munchetty was quick to jump in and defend Carol, exclaiming: “How rude!”
The BBC weather presenter had just finished filling in BBC viewers on the forecast for the day when Charlie interrupted the show to make a cheeky dig at Carol on camera.
Undeterred, Carol was quick to defend herself after she had handed back to Charlie and Naga on the red sofa.
She said: “By night we can expect some fog, Naga and Charlie…”
Charlie was reluctant to let Carol go quite yet and quizzed her on whether or not she had watched their previous segment with actor Martin Clunes.
The actor had appeared on the show to promote his new ITV documentary Islands of the Pacific.
Charlie asked: “Carol, did you listen to Martin Clunes just a moment ago?”
He then savagely joked: “I'm not sure. Do you ever listen to what's going on on this programme?”
Naga remarked: “How rude!”
Carol looked gobsmacked by the comment at first, but she soon started laughing.
Firing back, Carol said: “Well, Charlie I am. I'm also working whilst the programme's going on air,” and Charlie finally conceded: “I know…”
Carol explained that she had heard the end of the segment with Martin's dog.
Later on, Charlie asked Carol if she had a dream location in her mind that she'd love to visit someday - following on from Martin Clunes’s travel documentary.
The weather presenter responded saying that she would like to go to the South Pacific island of Tahiti.
Carol said: “It just sounds idyllic. I've got an image of it in my mind and of course I've seen pictures of it, and I'd just love to go.”
This comes after Naga took to social media to hit back at a BBC Breakfast viewer who tweeted a negative comment about her appearance.
The user commented on a picture of Naga wearing a stylish pair of red glasses, writing: "@TVNaga01 what the heck are those things hahahahaah what an absolute wally."
Naga shared the tweet and replied: "I think you're referring to glasses. Happy to help."
