Dan Walker was at the centre of some serious travel panic ahead of his BBC Breakfast departure on Tuesday, revealing to fans he hosted the show on less than three hours sleep as a result.
Dan announced earlier this month that his leaving date would be Tuesday,. May 17 , as he switches channels to take up a primetime news hosting role with Channel 5. That meant he had a few weeks to prepare for his final shift but his plans of getting up to Salford in good time on Monday night before having to set an alarm for the crack of dawn for the last time in a while, were thrown into disarray when his electric car ran out of charge on the motorway.
Dan kept his many Twitter followers in the loop with the unfolding drama, as he posted a video of himself from a service station as his car charged. With his phone in selfie mode, the former Football Focus presenter said: "Thank you for all the gorgeous messages about my final shift on BBC Breakfast tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it...if I actually get there!

"I'm currently at some services on the M40 trying to charge my electric vehicle. I've had some travel based issues and need to get it up to a significant enough charge to get me all the way to Manchester."
Predicting his early night would be flying out the window, Dan continued: "So I might get there very late tonight and I'm planning on about two and a half hours sleep. So if I look a little bit befuddled in the morning, that's the reason why."
Dan's final broadcast for the BBC saw Louise Minchin return to the show she quit last year, with the I'm A Celebrity star telling her former presenting partner in crime he had 'touched the hearts of the nation, during his time on Breakfast.
Dan's travel panic came after he risked throwing BBC Breakfast into chaos last week when he failed to set an early alarm, but thankfully still made it to the studio in time.
