Carol Kirkwood told Dan Walker to "stay" as he bid an emotional farewell to BBC Breakfast.
The broadcaster hosted his final edition of the morning programme today as he leaves to join Channel 5 news. The final segment of Tuesday's edition was dedicated to Dan's best bits over the past six years he has fronted the BBC's flagship news show.
Dan was joined by Sally Nugent and Louise Minchin as a whole host of colleagues issued tributes. He received messages of support from figures such as Alan Shearer, Adam Peaty and Jessica Ennis-Hill.

Dan has hosted the programme for the past six years and BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood penned a sweet poem for his final show. She said: "I cannot believe you are leaving. Dan's been with us for many a year and when we first heard he was coming , it filled us with fear.
"But how wrong were we, and I say this with glee. He's been an absolute superstar and we'll miss him terribly."
The programme cut to show a viral moment from last year when Carol was pulled to the ground by a guide dog before Carol continued with her poem and pleaded him to stay.
"Dan, don't go. Just stay, we love you. It's been such a joy working with you. And a privilege.
"But I wish you well and make sure you stay in touch. Lots of love."
Dan later described Carol as "the backbone of the show " as he thanked his colleagues and the viewers watching at home. He added: "It's always been my dream to do a job like this. It does feel a bit surreal that I won't be on this sofa anymore.
"There aren't many jobs where you get the chance to give a voice to other people and tell other people's stories and that's what we all love to do more than anything else."
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One and iPlayer
