A guest on Antiques Roadshow was stunned to learn a watch that cost £32 was now worth up to £30,000.
Alastair Chandler had the task of valuing a Rolex Submariner watch on tonight's show. The guest explained that he used the watch for underwater spearfishing after purchasing it in Yemen in 1961.
The guest said he was in the Royal Navy on a passage from Malta to Bahrain. He said: "I'd saved up enough money to buy a Rolex and bought this one."

Alastair said: "Well, I think it's a fantastic choice of watch. Back in 1953, Rolex decided they wanted to create a watch that would do pretty well anything.
"You could wear it when you were diving, doing action sports, but equally you could wear it when you were going out." Alastair explained the watch brought in by the guest was the 5512 model which has a gilt dial, the big triangle at the 12 and the dot markers.
The guest had also kept all the original purchase bills, the box and guarantee certificate. On the bills, it said the guest had paid 640 shillings for the watch, which is around £32.
Alastair said: "It's certainly the market to sell in and given this watch in this condition, I would think that somebody would be very happy to pay between £20,000 and £30,000 for it."
The guest, shocked by the valuation, said: "Great. Wow. Worth the trip."
