BBC announces first headliners for Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sunderland

  • Fatboy Slim will headline night one of Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland, with other acts for the Friday dance music line-up on 22 May including Sonny Fodera, Danny Howard, and Ewan McVicar.
  • The festival returns to Herrington Country Park from 22-24 May, marking its first appearance on Wearside in 21 years.
  • Tickets for the Friday Dance Party, which are for over 18s only, go on sale at 9am on Friday, 6 March, priced at £34.50 for general admission.
  • Ticket allocation is geographically weighted, with 30 per cent reserved for Sunderland residents, 60 per cent for the wider North East, and 10 per cent for the rest of the UK.
  • Line-ups for the Saturday and Sunday will be revealed on Monday, 9 March, with tickets for those days going on sale at 5pm on Wednesday.
