Baywatch star Nicole Eggert diagnosed with breast cancer after mistaking symptoms for menopause

Baywatch star Nicole Eggert has revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer after wrongly believing she was starting the menopause.

The 51-year-old actress - who is best known for playing Summer Quinn on the hit 1990s TV series and also appeared in US sitcom Charles In Charge - confirmed in a new interview that she was diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma in December 2023.

Opening up to People magazine, she says that she decided to seek medical advice for her symptoms after gaining 25lbs in three months. She also had "terrible pain" in her left breast back in October.Alarm bells really began to ring for the mum-of-two after she discovered a lump while checking her breasts. She told the publication: “It really was throbbing and hurting. I immediately went to my general practitioner, and she told me I had to immediately go get it looked at.”As a single parent, her thoughts naturally turned to her children and she confessed that her "biggest fear" is what will happen to daughters Keegan, 12, and Dilyn, 25, should the worst happen.

Noting that her eldest is an adult, her youngest is "a 12-year-old at home where I’m the only caregiver," and that she has "no family. I have nothing."

One of her friends has now started a GoFundMe page to fund her treatment and help try and ease her fears as "it's been a long time since Charles In Charge and Baywatch".

Recalling the "horrified" look on her young Keegan's face when she told her about her diagnosis, Eggert said she realised "there's just no succumbing to this".

She said: "This is something I have to get through. This is something that I have to beat. She needs me more than anything and anybody."
