Bayern Munich send brilliant Nottingham Forest message after transfer completed

New Nottingham Forest signing Omar Richards will ‘forge ahead’ in the Premier League, according to Bayern Munich board member Hasan Salihamidzic.

Richards has become Forest’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window as Steve Cooper looks to build his squad ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season. The former Reading left-back has joined for a fee of £8.5 million after agreeing personal terms and undergoing a medical.

Richards has been with Bayern since joining from Championship side Reading last summer. He played a total of 17 times for the German giants, being part of the squad to win the Bundesliga title.

It has now been confirmed by both clubs that he has returned to England, signing a four-year contract with the Reds. He could make his debut in the second pre-season friendly of the campaign against Burton Albion on Tuesday evening.

Upon the announcement of the sale to Forest, Bayern board member Salihamidzic outlined that it was the player’s desire to join Forest this summer. The chief was also full of praise for Richards.

"It was Omar's wish that we allow him to join Nottingham Forest,” Salihamidzic told the club’s official website. “He sees the opportunity to become a first-team regular at a Premier League club in his home country.

“Forest are getting a very good player and a lovely guy, who will forge ahead. We wish him all the best."

Richards joins Taiwo Awoniyi, Dean Henderson, Giulian Biancone and Moussa Niakhate to arrive at the City Ground this summer. The five new arrivals are also expected to be joined by right-back Neco Williams soon after a £17m fee was agreed with Liverpool this week.
