Bayern Munich's final Sadio Mane plans as medical and unveiling planned

Sadio Mane will head to Bayern Munich on Tuesday for a medical ahead of his imminent move from Liverpool.

The Senegal forward is set to be a major departure from Anfield with the club opting to sell the player with only 12 months left on his deal. Mane was keen to move on and Bayern managed to strike a £35.1m deal with the Reds after having several opening offers rejected.

Eventually a deal was agreed which will see the Premier League club receive an initial £27.4m with an add-ons based on appearances and individual and team achievements. The Bavarians also cited their soft negotiations when they were the club selling, following Thiago's move to Liverpool two years ago.

The 30-year-old is due to be unveiled at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday as the German champions look to complete a major summer move, reports Daily Mail. Their need to add Mane is furthered by the potential departures of Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski.

Mane has spent Liverpool six years at Liverpool, establishing himself as one of the Premier League's most potent forwards. He claimed the Golden Boot in 2019 and scored 23 times last term as he claimed a further two honours. Bayern may well need that firepower going forward.

Gnabry has 12 months left on his deal with his future hanging in the balance whilst Lewandowski is in a similar situation but has made his desire to quit the Bavarians clear. Bayern chief Hasan Salihamidzic has hit out at the Pole's agent who he believes has turned the player's head.

"He got an offer. I don't know what the agent said to his player, but we definitely made an offer," he told Sport1. "We had a conversation with the consultant and said very clearly how we imagined the future, with a very clear sum and terms. He has an advisor, who has turned his head and has turned it all year round. It's not clean."

Bayern continued their Bundesliga dominance last term, winning the league by eight points in Julian Nagelsmann's first year in charge. The young tactician fell short in the Champions League, seeing his side lose in the last eight to surprise package Villarreal.

Liverpool made moves to replace the void that would be left by Mane by adding Darwin Nunez, who smashed the 30 goal barrier with Benfica. The Uruguayan scored at Anfield in the Champions League and moved to Anfield for a club-record fee.
