Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their attempt to sign Harry Kane, according to reports, with German heavyweights Bayern Munich deemed to be in a better place to win the race for his signature after replacing Julian Nagelsmann with Thomas Tuchel.
Bayern shocked the European game by sacking Nagelsmann and appointing Tuchel in a quickfire turnaround. Nagelsmann had led the Bundesliga giants into the Champions League quarter-finals as well as upholding yet another title charge with rivals Borussia Dortmund.
Closer to home, United have made Kane their prime target in the search for a new striker as they prepare to test his and Tottenham's resolve when the market reopens. However, reports from Caught Offside state that Bayern are also ready to go heavy-handed in their quest to lure Kane to the Allianz Arena.

Caught Offside indicate Tuchel will be allowed to mark his appointment with a major signing. Kane only has one year left to run on his contract, but is still expected to cost £100million.
Elsewhere, reports from Football Insider argue Liverpool are currently leading the race to sign United-linked RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol this summer. Gvardiol has been heavily linked with a move to the UK with Manchester City also thought to have the highly-rated Croatia international on their radar.
Gvardiol, 21, was a shining light for his country at the World Cup in Qatar and has earned rave reviews for his Bundesliga performances. Liverpool are thought to see the centre-back as the ideal partner for Virgil van Dijk, but he will not come cheaply given his £97million release clause.
Gvardiol is under contract until 2027. He has played 32 games for Leipzig this season.
