July 16, it’ll be Bill vs. Billy.
The UFC has paired up Bill Algeo (15-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and Billy Quarantillo (16-4 MMA, 4-2 UFC) for the upcoming event, which will be held at a location and venue to be announced, though MMA Junkie has learned Las Vegas is the frontrunner.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking Monday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion hasn’t made an official announcement. Sherdog first reported the booking.
Algeo, 32, has alternated losses and wins over the course of four fights since his UFC signing in mid-2020. Following a “Fight of the Night” bonus-earning loss to Ricardo Lamas in his promotional debut, Algeo defeated Spike Carlye. He then lost to Ricardo Ramos, prior to his most recent performance, a win over Joanderson Brito.
Quarantillo, 33, most recently competed at UFC 268 in November when he lost a gutsy, three-round unanimous decision to Shane Burgos. Though he absorbed a tremendous amount of damage, Quarantillo rallied and found success in Round 3. The loss was his second in three fights. A win over Gabriel Benitez is bookended between losses to Burgos and Gavin Tucker.
With the addition, the July 16 lineup includes:
- Askar Askarov vs. Alex Perez
- Dustin Jacoby vs. Da Un Jung
- Amanda Lemos vs. Michelle Waterson
- Khusein Askhabov vs. Herbert Burns
- Brianna Fortino vs. Jessica Penne
- Dalcha Lungiambula vs. Puna Soriano
- Bill Algeo vs. Billy Quarantillo
