Travis Bazzana's Cleveland Guardians have lost 3-2 against the New York Yankees, with the Australian former No.1 MLB overall draft pick striking out twice in his four at bats.
Bazzana recorded one walk but no hits or RBIs as the AL Central-leading Guardians fell after Jazz Chisholm Jr. homered leading off the eighth inning on Tuesday night (Wednesday AEST).
Spencer Jones also went deep with his first major league home run for the Yankees, who have won three straight and are 10-4 since May 24.
The 23-year-old Bazzana did contribute a key play in the field for Cleveland, sliding to his left to stop the ball before throwing to first to secure the innings-ending out with runners on first and third and the score at 2-2 in the 4th inning.
