A 45-year-old man charged with the attempted murder of two police officers on the Darling Downs has been remanded in custody after a brief mention in court.

Bartholomew Peter Dornbusch was charged last night over the incident at Meringandan, about 20 kilometres north of Toowoomba.

It is alleged the two officers had tried to intercept a truck, which had allegedly been stolen from a property in Oakey earlier in the day, around 1.30pm yesterday.

Police allege when officers went to open the truck door, it accelerated — trapping them between the truck and their police car before they were thrown across the bonnet and onto the road.

Mr Dornbusch had his matters briefly mentioned in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

The 45-year-old did not apply for bail. A full brief of evidence has been ordered with the matter to return to court on July 13.

Detective Senior Constable Steven Ingerson, 54, remains in the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

The police union said he was no longer in an induced coma.

Detective Senior Constable Mark Pemberthy, 56, was taken to a local hospital in a stable condition, but has since been released.

Two others who were charged in connection with the alleged theft of a ute, allegedly stolen alongside the truck, also had their matters mentioned.

Brock Aiden Dornbusch, 19, and 28-year-old Michael Stephen Patch-Metzroth were charged with various offences including stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and drug offences.

The pair did not apply for bail. Their cases will return to court on June 22.
