Ranging from a busy matchday pub to a beloved family restaurant many hospitality businesses across Merseyside are listed for sale on a number of property websites. With guide prices beginning around the £140,000 mark, now could be the time to make an investment.

Taken from property websites RightMove and Licensed Trade Associates, here are some of the businesses listed for sale in the region at the moment.

Abditory Bar

Abditory announced its closure in May. The stylish and compact cocktail bar, found at 22 Queen Avenue in the city centre, had been open since November 2019.

However, it was one of the many victims of the cost of living crisis in the hospitality sector.

In a statement shared to Instagram on Thursday, May 11, its team said: "We opened in November 2019, a few months before all the pandemic and lockdown hit us. The last few years have been tough, everyone felt it and the ripples are still going on for many businesses.

"We have decided it is time for us to move on as a business, we have other venues in the region and want to concentrate on them @bobo_liverpool and welcome the next concept into Queen Avenue."

The guide price on Licensed Trade Associates, including all fixtures and fittings, is £140,000.

The Flat Iron

The Flat Iron pub in Anfield is up for sale (Liverpool Echo)

Busy matchday pub The Flat Iron was listed for sale on RightMove last month. Found on Walton Breck Road in Anfield, less than half a mile from Liverpool FC's ground, the Flat Iron has always been a popular matchday pub.

Its distinctive shape, redolent of Manhattan's Flatiron Building, helps it stand out as you approach the stadium from the east. Its walls and bar are adorned with Reds scarves, flags and murals, while there are also a number of nods to Ireland and Dublin in particular.

As well as being a popular drinking spot - with a three section bar area and function room - the Flat Iron has guest accommodation. In 2019, more than £500,000 was invested to refurbish the venue with eight boutique hotel rooms, making it a convenient spot for people travelling to Anfield for a game.

Listed on RightMove and marketed by property company Sidney Phillips, the pub is available for offers in excess of £850,000. The listing states that the pub's net turnover in the 2021/22 financial year was £650,000.

Belgica Bar & Restaurant

Belgian beer bar Belgica closed its doors in April. The Wood Street venue opened in November 2021, taking over the unit formerly held by Lucha Libre.

The venue was split across two floors, aiming to emulate the relaxed feel of Brussels beer bar upstairs, with a medieval atmosphere downstairs. As well as serving a wide range of strong Belgian beers, it offered a full food menu, which included dishes like French onion soup, moules frites, dessert waffles and bottomless brunches.

If you want to take over the premises, the guide price on Licensed Trade Associates - including all fixtures and fittings - is £195,000.

Zorba's Greek Restaurant

Zorbas Restaurant in the city centre (Andrew Teebay Liverpool Echo)

Zorba's is a Liverpool institution. The Leece Street Greek restaurant opened in 1974 and has been feeding generations of Scousers since.

After visiting Liverpool in the early seventies, owner Haralambos Michael, known to many as Michael, decided to take his love of food and talent as a chef and run a restaurant. Michael's wife, Louisa, 65, who is also originally from Cyprus, came to Liverpool a few years later and said after decades living here, the family call themselves "Greek Scousers."

Celebrating 50 years in business next year, Louisa and Michael said they are looking to retire, but want to reassure customers they're not going anywhere yet. The restaurant is up for sale and they would need the right people to come along, but they are also hopeful one of their daughters will take over the family business.

On its Licensed Trade Associates listing, the guide price (including all business fixtures and fittings but excluding stock) is £140,000.

Fogherty's Bar

Found on Blenheim Road, just off Smithdown Road, this Irish pub is listed for sale on RightMove for £550,000. Marketed by Sidney Phillips North West, the pub has a main bar and function room that can hold 280 people.

There is also an outdoor seating area with a capacity of 20. The listing states its net turnover is circa £370,000 per annum, while there is also a two bedroom accommodation or office space on site.
