Barry Robson hails best Aberdeen win at Pittodrie for years as boss addresses Ross McCrorie to Bristol City transfer talk

Barry Robson has praised Aberdeen's mentality after beating Rangers at home in the league for the first time since September 2016.

The Dons’ 2-0 victory also secured their seventh win in a row for the first time since 2015. A wonder strike from Liam Scales put the home side one up on the 48th minute after his shot/cross looped over Allan McGregor in the Rangers goal. The away side were unable to respond and found themselves 2-0 down after Liverpool loanee Leighton Clarkson picked out Bojan Miovski in the box. His diving header rocketed past McGregor who was unable to keep the ball out the back of the net.

Rangers are now 13 points behind Celtic with five post-split fixtures remaining but in reality the title was already gone for the Govan side and all the pressure has moved on to the Scottish Cup, the Gers' last realistic chance of silverware this season. Dons defender Ross McCrorie is believed to be in advanced talks with Bristol City over a £2million move, reports the BBC.

Speaking on Sportsound, Robson said: "You saw what it meant today, and my message after the game was that that's what it takes to be an Aberdeen player.

"I haven't got carried away once, and I still don't. I thought it was a terrific performance and it's the best I've heard Pittodrie in a long time. We've still got things we want to achieve this season that we've not achieved yet."

On the McCrorie situation, Robson said: "You'll know more than me. All I know is we had a good result today and Ross performed well."
