Barry Ferguson reacts to Rangers vice-chairman interview and the shock Ibrox 'falling apart' factor

Barry Ferguson has been left assured by the words of John Bennett after the Rangers vice-chairman gave a rare interview this week.

Chairman Douglas Park's right-hand man spoke this week of wanting to improve communication with fans, new signings and a host of other topics after a tough September so far bringing three defeats. A 2-1 win at the weekend over Dundee United at Ibrox only served to soothe the unrest amongst some supporters partially.

Club legend and former midfielder Ferguson reckons there was plenty to take from the quotes, and that it gives Rangers fans a good idea of where the club is at amid their Premiership title pursuit and Champions League group stage campaign. He told Go Radio: "I watched the interview with John Bennett. I thought it was very good, open and honest. I think it is great for the Rangers fans to listen to it. It is clear.

"The thing that surprised me was the amount of money that was spent on Ibrox and the training ground - it was falling apart.

"£23million over the last couple of years has been spent. That shows you it's not just on the playing squad (where money is being spent), it's the club as a whole.

"I am sure Rangers fans will appreciate it. I thought he was good in his interview and I think it cleared up quite a lot. He went on about recruitment and I agree with him.

"I think it's far too early to judge players. You need to give them three, four or five months at least, and he spoke about that. It was an interesting interview. I'm sure Rangers fans will have enjoyed listening to it."
