The youngest of his generation in the Trump family, Barron Trump recently enrolled at the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Predictably, his fellow students have been quick to quiz him about his party affiliations, though it seems the president-elect’s son hasn’t been too forthcoming with his views.
Instead, when asked who he votes for, Barron says he doesn’t support any party, the Daily Mail reports.
Considering that the Stern School of Business was one of the first places to stage anti-Trump protests, it’s understandable that he wouldn’t take a strong stance.
It contradicts what his own mother, future First Lady Melania Trump, said on polling day, when she shared a snap of her son voting for the first time with the caption: “Voted for the first time – for his dad.”
Barron Trump has also been front and centre of some political rallies with his family, making headlines when people noticed just how much taller he is than his father.
The 10-year-old boy we saw on the president-elect’s first campaign trail in 2016 has grown up into a 6'9" 18-year-old, towering six inches over his father.
Nonetheless, it seems Mr Trump isn’t overshadowed by his son, welcoming him to the stage with jokes.
In July, the president-elect formally introduced Barron to the political world at a rally in Florida, where the young man received two standing ovations.
“That's the first time he's done it [stood up to acknowledge applause],” his father said. “That's the first time, right? You're pretty popular. He might be more popular than Don and Eric. We gotta talk about this. Hey, Don, we gotta talk about this.”
While the two older Trump sons, Don Jr and Eric, grinned at their father’s jokes, he continued: “Welcome to the scene, Barron.”
Indeed, Barron is well and truly on the scene, having helped his father earn valuable votes in the younger male crowd by Mr Trump’s own admission and, as announced in May, being named to serve as a Florida delegate to the Republican National Convention.
However his mother declined the invitation on his behalf just two days later “due to prior commitments”, which was perhaps a polite way of Melania trying to remove her son from politics.
She herself is known to resent the intrusion of the public into her personal life that resulted from her husband’s political career.
