Barnsley have attempted to get Tuesday’s Championship clash with Nottingham Forest postponed due to a shortage of players.
The Tykes are struggling on and off the pitch and sit bottom of the table, despite Derby County’s 21-point deduction.
The Oakwell side are eight points from safety and suffered a 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Birmingham City on Saturday.
They will travel to the City Ground as the only side in the EFL without an away win this season.
Their caused hasn’t been helped by injury and illness in the camp.
As a result, they asked for the Forest match to be postponed – a request which has reportedly been turned down by the EFL.
Doug O’Kane, sports editor of the Barnsley Chronicle, tweeted today: “Barnsley tried to get tomorrow’s game called off but EFL said no."
Forest have been dealt an injury blow of their own after key defender Joe Worrall was ruled out for six weeks with broken ribs.
