Nottingham Forest sealed their third successive league win thanks to a 3-0 victory over Barnsley on Tuesday night at the City Ground.
On-loan Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis opened the scoring following a mistake from Tykes skipper Mads Andersen, while Ryan Yates and Brennan Johnson were also on target for Steve Cooper's men.
The Reds have strengthened their position in the Championship table and are now in seventh place, only a point outside the play-off zone.
Barnsley assistant manager Ferran Sibila, who filled in for absent boss Poya Asbaghi after he displayed Covid-19 symptoms, felt Andersen's error proved to be the game's turning point.
"We had a lot of players missing and out of position but we still had a plan and, before they scored, we showed the belief was there," the Spanish coach said.
"We were pressing well and had a good chance on the counter attack.
"I was really pleased with the performance up to the point when we had that unfortunate situation with Mads, who is a fantastic player who I admire for the way he trains and plays.
"But we gave that first goal to them and it changed the game.
"The belief went down after that and, while we have looked at the running stats and they show that the commitment was still there, the performance was not good enough."
The Tykes suffered their 16th defeat this season as they continue to fight for Championship survival.
