Erik ten Hag has hinted at reviving Manchester United's interest in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer – ahead of their reunion on Thursday night.

Ten Hag failed in his bid to be reunited with his former Ajax star De Jong last summer, after Barcelona rejected United's repeated advances for the Dutch star.

United boss Ten Hag will come face to face with De Jong tonight when the Red Devils face Barca at the Nou Camp in the first leg of their Europa League play-off tie to reach the last 16. Asked why he was unable to convince De Jong to sign for United last summer, Ten Hag said: “I don't know.
