Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele has already decided on his next club once his contract at the Nou Camp expires in the summer, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge to reunite with former boss Thomas Tuchel, whom he played under at Borussia Dortmund.
The Frenchman only played for a few months under Tuchel, making the £126million switch to Barcelona in 2017 just one-year after joining from Stade Rennais.
Dembele, for all his promise, has struggled for the Blaugrana, suffering with injuries over his five years at the club, and currently looks unlikely to extend his stay there.
According to The Athletic, the Blues held talks with representatives of the winger in January, though it was over a potential move in the summer rather than a late move in last month’s transfer window.
He is ambipedal, meaning he can use both feet and play on both the left and right in the roles Tuchel often plays behind the striker.
His greatest strength is also the ability to isolate defenders and take them on one-on-one, something that could particularly fit in Chelsea’s current system due to how the wing-backs overlap to create overloads.
However, the Blues aren’t the only side linked with a potential move, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta already claiming that he believes the player’s next club has already been decided.
He said: “It seems that he [Ousmane Dembele] has an agreement with another club and I don't know what they think, but we will look at the club's interest.”
And, according to Mundo Deportivo, that club is Paris Saint-Germain.
Les Parisiens have effectively made use of the free transfer market over the past few years, most notably landing Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum and Sergio Ramos last year.
It could represent a blow to Tuchel’s plans for next season, with the Blues attempting to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool over the course of a season.
The quality of a player like Dembele on a free transfer could have saved them millions in the transfer market, though other options may be available closer to the summer.
