Barcelona 'doors wide open' for ex-Leeds United star Raphinha exit amid Premier League interest

Former Leeds United talisman Raphinha could be on his way back to the Premier League in the summer transfer window following a disappointing stint with Barcelona after his move last year.

The 26-year-old has publicly admitted that his start to life in La Liga was difficult, but following a rocky start since leaving the Whites, his form has started to pick up again in recent weeks.

Just two nights ago, the Brazilian headed home the winning goal against Valencia to send the Spanish giants nine points clear at the top of the Spanish first division although it's believed that his poor form proceeding that has already decided his fate in the eyes of the Barcelona executives.

According to Spanish outlet Eldes Marque, the 26-year-old has clashed with manager Xavi over his conduct on and off the field, with the report claiming that the Barca legend found Raphinha's angry reaction to being subbed off against Manchester United in February 'regrettable' after he injured himself kicking a drinks fridge.

It continues to state that beyond that one incident, his inconsistent level means he's at risk of being shown the door and is under 'constant scrutiny' due to the amount they paid for the star - around €61 million (£55m).

However, it's also believed that Barca wouldn't even want the full amount they paid in return for the Brazilian, with the report stating as long as they can 'recover a good part of the sum', they'll have 'the doors wide open'.

And after Raphinha was benched for El Clasico earlier this season, he's now on the radar of Newcastle United who are looking to bring him back to England in something of a rescue mission.

As reported by El Nacional, PIF - the Saudi Arabian investment fund that took over the Magpies in 2021 - are 'very interested' in the Brazilian, claiming that he could become a 'very profitable star' and hope he will be able to perform at the level he did during his two-year stint at Elland Road.

Of course, Eddie Howe's side already have options in that department with the likes of Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin and Anthony Gordon all standing out but it appears as though they want further depth by bringing the 26-year-old in.

This is also not the only time Raphinha has been linked with a move back to the Premier League since leaving Leeds. Both Arsenal and Chelsea were interested in the star before he left the country, but both were again linked to the star just months into his time in La Liga.

Whether Raphinha's career at Camp Nou can be revived remains to be seen, but it appears as though if Leeds do stay in the Premier League, they might be seeing a familiar face when they host the Magpies at Elland Road next season.
