  • Barack Obama consciously limits his public political commentary, stating he prefers to act as a political leader rather than a "commentator" like Jon Stewart.
  • He explained that if he were to frequently criticise current events, he would cease to be seen as a political leader, despite acknowledging the value of Stewart's work.
  • Obama dedicates approximately 10 per cent of his time to his production company, Higher Ground, which is currently transitioning to an independent operation after its deal with Netflix concluded.
  • Higher Ground, co-founded with Michelle Obama in 2018, has produced several notable films and documentaries, including Leave the World Behind, American Factory and Oscar-nominated Rustin.
  • The company has recently expanded its scope beyond film and television, co-producing the Broadway revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play 'Proof', which opened in April.
