Bar, kitchen, brewery and garden with space for 5,000 customers announces opening date

Diecast, the new bar, pizza kitchen, brewery and beer garden, will open with a full-on weekend party next month. Doors will be thrown open at the Ducie Street venue on July 6, with events going on through the weekend.

It’ll mean that we get a first look at what’s been going on behind the scenes for the past few months at the former foundry venue, that’s being opened up by the team behind Ramona and The Firehouse.

In the first phase of the opening, there will be its huge warehouse kitchen, which will be unveiling its new pizza concept - which will blend the classic Neapolitan Italian style pizza with elements of the New York style pizza.

According to the team, this makes for a ‘super light and fluffy crust, but with a stronger hold, more toppings, and a crispy base’. Owners say it will have Manchester’s largest open kitchen, and will also be sending out signature burgers, small plates, and wood-fired piadino, the Italian flatbread sandwiches.

Where Ramona - which introduced the Detroit-style pizza to Manchester - championed the margarita, Diecast will be going all in on the daiquiri, with 64 potential combinations of frozen daiquiri coming from 20 dedicated frozen daiquiri machines.

Entertainment-wise, there will be vertical stages, stairways and platforms which will ‘create one of the biggest immersive art house dance parties the city has ever seen’, according to organisers. The huge venue will have the capacity to fit 5,000 people across its various spaces, once it's all open and running.

Meanwhile, it will also boast a huge outside space, with a beer garden and ‘rum caravans’. These will be reconditioned trailer park caravans that will be bookable for up to 40 people.

Opening weekend will sees parties in the evenings on July 6 and 7, and then parties all day through the weekend on July 8 and 9. Tickets for the launch parties are available here…

The space is a huge expanse of land, formerly used by the Presbar diecast company, which made and pressed metal components for the automotive industry. More of the site will be revealed in the coming months, with a brewery in the offing, an artisan bakery and also office space for the creative industries.
