Banna leads protest in Jamshedpur, sits on day-long dharna

JAMSHEDPUR: State health and disaster management minister Banna Gupta on Monday took part in the protest against the Centre’s newly-launched Agnipath scheme.

Along with his supporters and Congress workers, Banna sat on a day-long dharna at Birsanagar area of the Steel City, demanding immediate withdrawal of the scheme to recruit Agniveers on 4-year contract basis in defence forces.

The minister alleged that Narendra Modi before coming to power had promised 2 crore jobs to the youths every year but in the last eight years, nothing has been done in this direction. As an eye-wash, Agnipath scheme has been launched to showcase that the Modi government is fulfilling its job promise.
