Bank customers may be wondering whether they should visit their bank branch for work tomorrow, Friday, September 11, 2026, as the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for a nationwide bank strike.
Even at a time when such bank strikes find no place in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, and banks such as State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) have issued just advisories for their customers, confusion about the status of bank holiday on September 11 is growing among many bank customers.
Will bank branches be open or closed on September 11, 2026 due to the bank union strike?
While banks have made arrangements to keep essential services running, customers may face disruptions in branch-related banking work. SBI and PNB have advised their customers to complete important transactions in advance and use digital banking channels, ATMs and other available services during the proposed strike.
In a social media post on X, State Bank of India said that it has made necessary arrangements to ensure normal functioning of branches and offices on strike days.
However, SBI has also cautioned that banking work may be impacted because of the proposed strike.
Punjab National Bank has issued a customer advisory regarding the nationwide bank strike on September 11. Customers are advised to use digital banking services for essential transactions during the strike, including UPI payments, mobile banking, internet banking, ATMs and ADWMs, says PNB
