Bank holidays for 2022 and 2023 in UK confirmed - full list of dates

The bank holidays for 2023 have been confirmed.

The next bank holiday in England and Wales is December 26 which is Boxing Day. This year, the Christmas Day bank holiday will be observed on December 27.

The New Year's Day bank holiday will not be held on January 1, but rather January 2. Bank or public holidays do not have to be given as paid leave.

An employer can choose to include bank holidays as part of a worker’s statutory annual leave. If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you’ll usually be paid on the working day before.
