Bank heist in Jaipur: No success yet, hunt on for suspects

JAIPUR: A day after two armed robbers stormed into the Chomu House branch of the Central Bank of India and fled on a scooter after looting Rs 15 lakh from the vault room, the police have quizzed multiple suspects but the accused remains at large.

DCP (South) Mridual Kachawa said that the police have received important evidence in pursuit of the two suspects, “Our teams have detained a few persons and investigation is underway in the case,” Kachawa said.

The police had seized the scooter used by the two accused, following which the city police had detained multiple suspects. Kachawa said efforts are afoot to apprehend the two suspects who are believed to have walked through the main road, held bank employees and customers captive inside the washroom before fleeing with Rs 15 lakh.

Different teams of the city police had fanned out on multiple fronts, including a special team that scanned multiple CCTVs around railway stations, bus stand, Chomu house circle and its nearby areas.

City police said that they are confident of tracking down the accused before they could flee the city.

Jaipur police had alerted all station house officers (SHOs) about the movements of two robbers and directed them to brief their beat constables about the same.
