Afif Hossain top-scored with 38 from 27 balls on Monday afternoon against a plucky Dutch attack that chipped away after a strong Bangladesh opening partnership.
Najmul Shanto (25) and Soumya Sarkar (14) put on 43 for the first wicket before the Netherlands broke through with two scalps in the space of two overs.
Paul van Meekeren (2-21 from four overs) and Bas de Leede (2-29 from three) finished with the best figures.
Young spinner Shariz Ahmad picked up the big wicket of Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan (seven) in the 10th over.
Hossain played the lead role in his absence, before Mosaddek Hossain (20 not out from 12 deliveries) landed some important lusty blows late.
It is Bangladesh's first match of the tournament, while the Dutch progressed to the Super 12 stage after beating the UAE and Namibia during the qualifying round.
The Netherlands made two changes, including seamer Logan van Beek at the expense of Timm van der Gugten and Ahmad in place of the injured Roelof van der Merwe.
Bangladesh were heavily beaten by New Zealand and Pakistan during a tri-series in October and lost to Afghanistan in a practice match by 62 runs.
