‘Bang average’ Tottenham squad have been ‘found out’ after miserable week for Antonio Conte

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has slammed Antonio Conte’s “bang average” squad.

Spurs have endured a difficult week, losing to both Manchester United and Newcastle, with Conte’s side booed off on Sunday.

The Italian has since called for more time, money and patience, ruling Spurs out of the title race despite what was their best ever start to a Premier League season.

An injury to Dejan Kulusevski has been highlighted as reason as to why things have slowed of late, while Richarlison, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Cristian Romero missed the Newcastle loss.

Conte was backed over the course of the summer but has since called for “more transfer markets” in order to build a squad capable of challenging on both a domestic and continental front.

Spurs were keen on signing a creative midfielder as well as a big-name centre-back but went without either, though Clement Lenglet did join on loan from Barcelona.

Of those who did arrive, Yves Bissouma has been questioned by Conte and the Spurs boss has stressed Djed Spence is not ready.

“We’ve been found out a little bit,” O’Hara told talkSPORT.

“We’ve had key injuries to Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg didn’t play at the weekend and we’ve been found out.

“The squad is bang average and if it isn’t for Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane it’s a really average side. The new signings that have come in haven’t really kicked on, Ivan Perisic I’m not convinced with, Yves Bissouma’s been really average and even poor, and Djed Spence hasn’t even been given an opportunity.

“So we’ve been found out. Cristian Romero gets injured and you have to play Davinson Sanchez, I don’t know what he is playing at. How we paid £45million for him I’ll never know, he is an accident waiting to happen. It’s ridiculous how average he is, and it puts everyone on edge when you play it out from the back with him in the team.

“Everyone looks so bad! If you haven’t got Romero and Ben Davies in that back line, don’t even bother playing it out from the back!”
