The Great British Bake Off saw two stars missing from the tent yesterday - but one has been forced to deny she pulled a 'sickie'.
The Channel 4 baking show - judged by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and hosted by Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding - returned for the latest segment yesterday, bread week, but two stars were missing due to being ill. At the start of the show, it was confirmed Rebs and Abdul were feeling a bit under the weather and so would be missing a week on the show.
As the episode was shown to viewers, Rebs took to social media to defend her not being on the show this week, insisting she would have done anything to be able to make her Lahmacun pizza and Mexican style smorgastarta.
Taking to Twitter as the episode aired last night, she wrote: "Will say it once for the people in the back, I DID NOT want to miss bread week (it was probably my strongest week), I was forced to go home for the safety of all in the tent.
"I just wanted the world to see my Lahmacun pizza and Mexican style smorgastarta! No matter what you think of me and my bakes pls know I didn't pull a "sickie", I begged to stay and then I cried all the way back to Northern Ireland."
Speaking with her fans, Rebs also admitted that if there were any weeks she wanted to miss, it wouldn't have been the bread one.
"Believe me if I was to skip one week it wouldn't have been this one!" she penned, whilst she also thanked another fan and vowed to show off her smorgastarta soon, writing: "Maybe one day I'll share it with the world."
As a result of Rebs and Abdul both being absent, no baker was sent home this week and they will all battle again next week.
At the start of the show, hosts Matt and Noel joked about it, with Matt saying: "Both Rebs and Abdul are a bit under the weather this week, but with your permission, we thought we’d send them both straight through to the final."
Before Noel then added: "Only joking, they’re going to miss a week and hopefully they’ll be back next week."
As the show came to a close, Matt confirmed everyone would see in another week, adding: "Well this week nobody is going home. The judges felt that given the quality here and the fact Rebs and Abdul aren’t here, everybody deserves the chance to bake again."
