A full English breakfast and a pizza are both delicious in their own right, however not many people would think of combining them. During bread week on The Great British Bake Off Janusz opted to mix both dishes and topped his pizza with all the ingredients from a full English breakfast.
And if that wasn't daring enough, he went on to wow judges during the techinical challenge with a Scandi sandwich cake filled with fish and chips and mushy peas topped with curry sauce.
Using egg, black pudding, bacon, and mushrooms Janusz served his 'Full English breakfast pizza' in the signature challenge during the third episode in the series on Tuesday, September 27. Judge Paul Hollywood appeared unfazed by the pizza, simply commenting: "There's so much in there. Weirdly I'm not getting huge amounts of flavour from it. It needs to be a bit more punchy."
But the pizza definitely split opinion on Twitter. Some viewers loved the idea while others were not impressed. One said: "Janusz' full English breakfast pizza sounds ideal to be honest" and, "I think that might be the best pizza ever… English breakfast on a pizza" followed by three drooling faces emojis.
Another added: "Full English breakfast on a pizza is a great idea!" Others disagreed, one said: "English breakfast pizza makes me feel sick."
A second viewer said: "I never hated pizza but this episode made me hate it !!! What the hell are they making English breakfast on pizza" and "someone is baking a full English breakfast pizza with beans and eggs on #GBBO As if it was not painful enough being Italian right now."
But despite his divisive pizza, Janusz went on to win Star Baker after the technical challenge when he created a Smörgåstårta - a Scandi sandwich cake - with fish, chips and a mushy peas filling and a curry sauce flavoured frosting. Janusz went on to say he was "very happy" when the judges said they loved it.
The first two bakers to leave Bake Off this series were Will and Maisam, which you can read more about here. But no-one left the competition during bread week as the judges felt the "quality was too high".
The first episode of the series was dedicated to Chloe Avery, who was a food producer for Love Productions, the company behind Bake Off. After the episode, the production company tweeted: "In memory of Chloë Avery who was a much loved member of the Bake Off family."
