It's hard to believe that the season of soggy bottoms, tricky technical bakes and jaw-dropping showstopper challenges is almost over. From 12 bakers to just four, it seems we have already reached the semi-final of The Great British Bake Off, which will air on Tuesday, November 8 on Channel 4 at 8pm, with last week's star baker Syabira, Abdul, Janusz and Sandro competing to become the Bake Off champion of 2022.
Over the course of the last eight weeks - all of which have been themed - we have seen the 12 amateur bakers tackling brave multi-flavour and insanely creative showstopper cakes, panic-inducing and perfectly presented pastries, custard-week, Smorgastata - a Swedish delicacy, Garibaldi biscuits, red velvet cake and pan dulces - to name just a few. All have been judged by the bread king himself, Paul Hollywood, and Prue Leith and encouraged by hosts Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding.

While last week's pastry-themed quarter-final proved tricky for some of the bakers, with Maxy sadly becoming the latest baker to leave the tent - read more on that here - week nine will see the four remaining contestants tackle one of the most notoriously complicated and technical weeks in the show, but will they keep their cool or crumble under the pressure at the last hurdle?
Read on to find out what they are up against...
What is the Bake Off semi-final theme?
The remaining bakers are tasked with patisserie week, a theme that over the years has caused many bakers in the tent to get a little hot under the collar.
During the episode, viewers will see the final four craft beautiful pastries, sweets and light cakes to prove they have what it takes to reach the final. For the signature challenge, Paul and Prue will be judging the bakers' Mini Charlottes - a bitesize filled sponge, bread or biscuit and one which demands great precision. The showstopper the semi-finalists will be needing to make is a Swedish wedding cake. The technical challenge, however, does not yet seem to have been revealed.
Who is left in the Great British Bake Off 2022?

Sandro, 30, a nanny from London
Syabira, 32, a cardiovascular research associate from London
Janusz, 34, a personal assistant to a head teacher from East Sussex
But who will make it through to the final next week?
