Bail failing: legal services warn against tighter laws

Tough bail laws are causing harm to children and not reducing offending, legal advocates say as state governments continue to tighten legislation.

Indigenous children make up 85 per cent of the young people refused bail under legislation introduced in NSW in March 2024, according to the Aboriginal Legal Service.
