BAI announces India squad for Badminton Asia Junior Championships

NEW DELHI: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) on Friday announced the squad for the upcoming Asia Junior Championships in Indonesia, with standout players Tara Shah and Ayush Shetty leading the team.

The continental championship will take place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from July 7-16.

Tara Shah has gained attention for her skill and determination in girls' singles, currently ranking seventh in the BWF rankings. Ayush Shetty brings experience to the boys' singles category, ranked 20th in the world and second in the BAI chart.

Lakshya Sharma and Rakshitha Sree S claimed the top positions in boys' singles and girls' singles during trials.

Nicholas Nathan Raj and Tushar Suveer secured the first spot in boys' doubles, while Radhika Sharma and Tanvi Sharma dominated in girls' doubles.

Samarveer and Radhika Sharma earned their place in mixed doubles. This talented team will represent India in the prestigious tournament, aiming for success in their respective categories.

The team comprises athletes who have performed remarkably during the final selection trials which were held at Karnal Singh Railway Stadium from June 4-7.

These players will represent India in various categories, including boys' singles, girls' singles, boys' doubles, girls' doubles, and mixed doubles.
