The 76th British Academy Film Awards will take place tonight, as stars of film from around the world descend on London to celebrate the best achievements in filmmaking from the past year. The nominations were announced by Captain America actress Hayley Atwell and Ted Lasso’s Toheeb Jimoh via a live broadcast from London on January 19.
Leading the pack for this year’s BAFTAs is Netflix’s All Quiet on the Western Front with 14 nominations. The German anti-war film equals 2001 martial arts epic Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon as the film not in the English language with the most nominations in BAFTA history.
Following close behind are Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin and Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, with 10 BAFTA nods each. Several first-time nominees will be hoping for a win in the acting categories including Ana De Armas, Austin Butler, Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan.
