BAFTAs 2022: Ashley Roberts and Katie Piper lead red carpet glamour

The BAFTA Awards 2022 are upon us - and Ashley Roberts and Katie Piper led the glamour as stars began to arrive on the red carpet.

Taking place at London’s Royal Festival Hall, the prestigious awards celebrate the biggest talent in TV.

Former Pussycat Doll Ashley, 40, looked stunning metallic gown that was slashed to the thigh.

She teamed the one-shoulder dress with simple silver sandals and swept her blonde hair up in a bun.

TV presenter Katie Piper, 38, stunned in a pink gown with feather trim which she teamed with a metallic handbag and matching shoes.

Our Girl actress Michelle Keegan wowed in a peach-coloured floor-length gown which she teamed with silver heels.

She arrived with husband Mark Wright, who looked very dapper in a dark suit with white shirt and black bow tie.

While former Saturdays star turned TV presenter Rochelle chose a floor-length lace dress for the occasion.

Stacey Solomon sparked rumours she had got married to Joe Swash when she turned up at the BAFTAS in what looked like a wedding dress.

Giving fans a glimpse of her outfit before she arrived at the awards, Stacey wrote on Instagram : "Here we go.. Off to the Baftas with my best friend. Couldn’t do any of it without you. Never felt so nervous & proud.

"No matter what I’m so grateful to even have been nominated. Never ever ever did I think I’d be saying that. Thank you all for your constant kindness and support. To the moon and back. Happy Sunday everyone. Lots of love from your bafta nominated neat freak."

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond wowed in a black gown which she paired with a long flowing metallic jacket.

Other breakfast telly stars out in force included Lorraine Kelly, who stunned in a long white gown with a leaf print on it.

The 62-year-old presenter completed her outfit with a gold clutch bag and heels.

Good Morning Britain presenters Laura Tobin, Charlotte Hawkins and Ranvir Singh brought the glamour as they posed on the BAFTAS red carpet.

Laura opted for a pink one-shoulder creation, while Charlotte donned a full length red dress and Ranvir went for a black lacy number.

Channel 4's Steph McGovern, host of lunchtime TV show Steph's Packed Lunch, also turned heads in a black halterneck dress.

New Doctor Who star Nctui Gatwa arrived with the BBC show's writer Russell T Davies.

Right before the BAFTAs were due to take place it was announced that Ncuti will be the new Doctor Who.

The Rwandan-Scottish will take over from current doctor Jodie Whittaker, who made history as the first female Doctor Who back in 2017.

He is also up for a BAFTA tonight for his role in Sex Education, with both him and co-star Aimee Lou Wood and Ncuti Gatwa nominated for best comedy performance.

Meanwhile, deaf EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis kept things chic and simple in a black satin gown.

The actress, who won Strictly Come Dancing with partner Giovanni Pernice last year, is up for an award at this year's BAFTAS.

The couple's silent dance has been nominated for the Virgin Media must-see TV moment.

Other moments up for the gong include when Adele was surprised by the teacher who changed her life in An Audience With Adele.

Actress Zeze Millz took the red carpet by storm in a white jumpsuit with an asymmetrical train.

She towered over other guests in a pair of gold platform heeled sandals.

Meanwhile, radio presenter Vick Hope brought a touch of elegance in an intricately beaded 1920s-style gown.

Olly and Lydia in Channel 4 drama It's A Sin (Channel 4)

Comedian and actor Richard Ayoade will play BAFTAs host for the third year running.

Channel 4 drama It’s A Sin, about a group of friends during the 1980s Aids crisis, leads the nominations.

It is up for 11 gongs, including Best Drama and Best Mini-Series. While lead star Olly Alexander is nominated for Best Actor and Lydia West is up for Best Actress.

Lydia faces competition from the likes of Jodie Comer, who received a nod for her role in care home drama Help, and Kate Winslet for her role in Mare of Easttown.

Olly is up against veteran actors Stephen Graham and Sean Bean in the Best Actor category. They are nominated for their roles in Help and BBC prison drama Time respectively.

An Audience with Adele is up for several gongs (ITV)

ITV ’s An Audience With Adele and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway will battle it out with BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing for Best Entertainment programme.

Alma’s Not Normal, Motherland, Stath Lets Flats and We Are Lady Parts are all nominated in the Scripted Comedy category.

While Casualty, Holby City, Coronation Street and Emmerdale will fight it out to be crowned Best Soap.
