Bafta Television Awards 2023: When and how to watch the ceremony

It has been a great year for British TV. From drama to entertainment - indeed the UK-hosted Eurovision has just finished, you can read all the results here - there's so much for all telly-loving tastes. Now the show's, actors, directors and writers are competing to take home a BAFTA. This year the awards show will be hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.

The BATFAs are taking place at Royal Festival Hall and programmes in the running for awards include Bad Sisters, The Responder, Sherwood, Somewhere Boy, Am I Being Unreasonable?, Big Boys, Derry Girls, Ghosts, Friday Night Live, The Graham Norton Show, Taskmaster and Would I Lie To You? The BAFTA Television Awards will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday, May 14 at 7pm. The ceremony is two hours long and BBC drama The Responder is the most nominated series.

Welsh nominations include Taron Egerton who has been nominated for leading actor for his role in the Apple TV series Black Bird. He faces tough competition from Martin Freeman for his role in The Responder, Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders and Ben Whishaw in This Is Going To Hurt.

Welsh-made BBC Wales drama Life and Death in the Warehouse, featuring an impressive Welsh cast, has been nominated for single drama. The show is up against Channel 4 drama I Am Ruth and Netflix drama The House.

Billie Piper for her role in I Hate Suzie Too, Imelda Staunton for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, Kate Winslet for I Am Ruth, Vicky McClure for Without Sin and Sarah Lancashire for the very popular Happy Valley have all been nominated for leading actress.
