When did Prince William start talking like an LA girl? At the Baftas on Sunday the Prince of Wales, who is Bafta’s president, went backstage to congratulate the nominees.
Anyone hoping for a pearl of presidential wisdom may have been left disappointed. “Honestly, like, the category was so strong with all of you,” he told the Rising Star nominees. “It’s like, who is gonna, like, pull this off. It’s incredible. It’s very close between all of you.”
He then admitted to winner Mia McKenna-Bruce that he hadn’t watched How to Have Sex, the film she stars in. “I think it looked like you had a lot of fun all the way through,” he told her. Some have pointed out that it’s hardly a laugh a minute for Mckenna-Bruce’s character, who gets sexually assaulted twice in the film. “It is incredible,” he concluded sagely, “it is a very, very strong year for like, categories.”
HRH also confessed to director Jonathan Glazer that he was yet to see The Zone of Interest, which scooped three Baftas. He said the same about Barbie, which came out last summer. Not doing his homework?
Noughties nostalgia has officially reached fever pitch, with Girls Aloud taking Perfect Magazine’s fashion week bash by storm last night. The band are back together for a reunion tour which starts in May, and everyone at the party was desperate to get a snap with the quartet. Models Cora Corre, Lady Amelia Spencer, Georgia Jagger, Daisy Lowe and Chanel Ayan were also there, alongside activist Elizabeth Jagger and Cruz Beckham, son of David. The party was hosted at Dovetale in Mayfair by Perfect editor Katie Grand, who was spotted earlier in the day arm-in-arm with actor Gwendoline Christie, the magazine’s latest cover star.
